Basics of Temperature Mapping

Warehouse owners or managers have to be very careful with the temperature conditions inside the warehouse. For products such as medicines and perishable products, temperatures need to be uniform and within the permissible range. When there are temperature irregularities seen in the warehouses and other storage facilities, the sensors kept at strategic places give off an alarm.

This alarm triggers a root cause analysis but before that a temperature mapping exercise needs to be done. As a warehouse owner, you have two choices. First, you can buy the expensive temperature mapping equipment and allocate a few resources from your warehouse to perform the temperature mapping tasks. Second, you can hire an external agency or service to do the temperature mapping for you.

In the first scenario, you will have to make an investment and pull out resources from their regular activities to do the temperature mapping tasks. This means that you will have to increase your yearly budget and also make sure that you have a suitable number of overheads to do the emergency tasks.

The second scenario is more feasible when it comes to saving money and lessening the burden on existing overworked employees. With this scenario, warehouse owners can be assured that the day to day operations will not be hampered and site surveys will be done by experts.

The temperature mapping experts will identify critical mapping points and then do a complete analysis of the temperature conditions in the warehouse. When external services are involved, the temperature mapping process is well planned.
